Master Bedroom Master Plans…

Well, I hope you all had a very Merry Christmas!  We sure did!  Of course I’ll be sharing pics soon!  But suffice it to say that we are very blessed in many ways and are trying our best not to take that for granted!!

Today, I want to share my plans for our Master Bedroom.  For a while now, I have been wanting to get rid of our big armoire and the dresser in our bedroom.  It is nice furniture, I just think that there are too many pieces in there for the size of the room.  And I can only arrange the furniture one way for everything to fit.  But, Andy has this crazy aversion to splitting up furniture suites.  And because the pieces are pretty hefty, I can’t move them myself.  Well, I think I finally found a way to make him come around!

It all started when I found a 50” plasma TV online on Thanksgiving Day for an awesome price!  I debated, but decided to buy it for Andy (and me) for Christmas to replace our 42” in the living room.  The even older TV that was living in the armoire in the bedroom was kicked out to make way for the 42”.  But, that is only temporary!   The ultimate goal is to hang it on the wall, which of course means we will not need the armoire anymore.   ( I donated the old old one to one of my clients who has been living in a shelter for the last few months, so it went for a good cause!)

I also had to agree to let Andy hang  A.J.’s deer head (that he is going to have mounted) in his bedroom. I never thought I would agree to have a dead animal hanging on any wall in my house, but I was willing to compromise if I get to do our bedroom the way I want.

So, here is how it looks now….

The plan is to sell the armoire and dresser so that I can re-arrange the room and place the bed on the window wall so that it is the first thing you see when you walk in.   I will then get Andy a taller, skinnier chest of drawers for his clothes that we will place on the wall beside his closet (that you can’t see in the pic).  The TV will be on one of those tiltable/turnable mounts on the wall that the dresser is on now, and the bed will be where the armoire is. That way, it can be flat against the wall when we are not watching it, but we can turn it toward the bed when we need to.

I think it will then be so much more spacious and pleasing to the eye.  I also plan on getting new lamps, and possibly a faux fireplace mantel to go under the TV.  I already have new curtain panels that I LOVE!  So, that will be one of my first projects of 2013.  If I can sell the furniture!  If any of my local peeps are interested, let me know!  And pass the word please!

I have some more projects planned for the new year and I’ll let you know what those are soon!

Let me know how much you are asking for the furniture. Scott and I are looking for a few pieces for our house.
