Half Bath Re-Do with Textured Wall Paper

Well y’all, I’ve been at it again!  I decided to re-decorate our half bath.  This little room has been 3 different colors in the last 5 years!  I guess it is just so small and easy to change!

It was sage green at first…

Then I decided to put up a chair rail and painted the bottom part brown and the top a creamy color.

I added the squares of molding for some interest.

I liked it this way, but it was so dark in there.  Then, we had termites and the wall had to be patched in one spot.  And I decided to take the TP holder off the wall and get a standing one, which meant more holes had to be patched and the molding square on that side then looked very off balance without the holder beside it.

So I decided to take the squares down and  put wall paper on the bottom, which would cover up the patched spots.  I was initially going to go with bead board wall paper, but when I got to Lowes, I found this textured paper that I fell in love with!

I put it up underneath the chair rail.  It was so much easier than I thought it would be!  Getting around the pipes was not a problem at all!

The paper is SO easy to work with when it is wet.  I just pasted it up to the pipe and cut a slit in the paper to allow for the paper to go around it.  Easy Peasy Japaneesy (as A.J. would say)!

Under the sink, I just pasted it up to the curving edge, and then used an exacto knife to trim it when it was dry. I found that it did not trim as well when it was wet.

In the corners, I matched up the design, but evidently the wall isn’t perfectly straight, because you could see bits of the brown paint showing through.

But, I painted it all white once it had dried completely, and you can’t tell a bit!

I also painted the cabinet white to contrast more against the cream color on the top part of the wall.

I plan on adding some decorative molding around the opening of the cabinet soon!  And I’m not 100% happy with the décor inside…so that may be getting tweaked soon!

I ordered a Wall Pops set to put on the long wall.   I wanted something that would make a statement, but it couldn’t be anything that stuck out very far due to the small space.

They were so easy to apply.  Just peel and stick, and then re-position if you need to!  And they came with little mirrors to stick in the middle.  I really like how everything turned out!

It is so much lighter and brighter in there!  I would like to put the same wall paper in our Master Bath, but that is on the back burner for a while! As for the cost, it was right at $50.  One roll of the wall paper was $18 plus tax at Lowes and the Wall Pop Set was right around $30.  Not too shabby!

I hope you all have a fabulous weekend!  I will be heading out to Mandeville tomorrow to spend the weekend with my sisters.  We plan on going in to New Orleans on Saturday and seeing “Magic Mike” at the Theaters on Canal Place.  I might have a teensy weensy crush on Channing Tatum!
